According to a report by , Ligue 1 outfit Lyon are currently negotiating Morton's transfer fee with Liverpool, as the Reds have demanded €9 million for the defensive midfielder whose contract runs until next summer.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Morton, who heavily impressed in the U-21 European Championship with England, is currently enjoying the pre-season tour with Liverpool and featured in the club's friendly against AC Milan a few days back. The 22-year-old notably has interests from Braga, Ajax, Strasbourg, Ipswich, Brugge and West Ham. However, the recent developments saw Morton agreeing terms with Lyon, but the transfer has stalled as Liverpool have rejected the French club's bid, which is less than their aforementioned demand.
